Try these 4 ways to fix a scratched disc and if the scratch still remains, bring it to Repair Genius!

  1. Rubbing Alcohol:

Put a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a soft, lint-free cloth and rub outward from the center of the readable side of the disc lightly and gently, being careful not to damage the disc further. Rub gently until the scratch disappears or becomes less visible. Once the disc is dry, check to see if it will play.

  1. Toothpaste:

Use a small dollop of toothpaste (baking soda-based works best). Wet your finger and slowly massage the toothpaste into the scratch. Do this using an outward motion in a straight line as opposed to a circular motion for about 1 minute and rinse off the toothpaste. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to dry it and then check to see if it will play.

  1. Banana:

Peel and cut a banana in half, then gently rub it into the scratch starting from the center of the disc and working outward. Repeat a number of times. Rinse, dry using a soft, lint-free cloth and test.

  1. Petroleum Jelly:

Rub a small amount of a petroleum jelly into the scratch and let sit for 1 minute, then wipe off with soft cloth starting from the center of the disc and working outward. Once completely cleaned, place in the game console and test to see if it works.

If these 4 methods of repairing games fail, bring it into Repair Genius. We have special equipment that offers a more sophisticated approach to disc scratch repair.
